ABVP against caution money taken charged in SC, ST hostels

Raipur, September 22, 2012

Protesting caution money being taken from students living in SC and ST hostels across the state, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has demanded from the government to instantly stop the trend and return the fund to the students. In this connection, the ABVP members submitted a memorandum to Assistant Commissioner Tribal Welfare Department on Saturday.

“From this academic session, the SC and ST hostels are asking students to deposit caution money Rs 1000. This is additional burden on students and the ABVP will not allow this to happen,” said the organisation’s state secretary Raju Mahant.

He demanded routine health check-up facility for students living in SC and ST hostels. “Besides, sanitation and provision of quality and nutritious meals should be ensured in SC and ST hostels,” he added.

“We have urged Tribal Welfare Department not to give additional charge to wardens of SC and ST hostels so that they could concentrate in better management of the hostels,” he informed.

The ABVP warned of launching aggressive agitation if the caution money of the students would not be returned.

On the occasion, Mahant was accompanied by Ritesh Mohre, Anshuman Tiwari, Hemant Sonwani, Nutan Dhritlahre, Brijesh Banjare, Bhupendra Daharia, Vinay Dhritlahre, Naresh Daharia, Anil Kurre, Shobha Sonkar, etc.
