With an aim to develop state as tourist hub the government is rapidly developing tourist spots by increasing facilities. “The objective is to make the state free from naxals and develop it into favourite tourist destination. This will happen when people will come forward in developing untapped tourist places of the state,” said Principal Secretary Tourism department KDP Rao during the inauguration ceremony of three-day cultural, painting and photography programme being organised by Chhattisgarh Tourism Board (CTB) to mark World Tourism Day at Guru Teg Bahadur Bhawan on September 25.
The CTB’s Managing Director Subhash Mishra said the government would publicise Chhattisgarh tourism in global arena using modern methods and was committed to provide best facilities to the tourists.
He informed that the board would organise national-level dance and music programme at Sirpur this year to develop Buddhist circuit. The event would be peer to those organised in Mahabalipuram (Tamil Nadu), Khajuraho (Madhya Pradesh) and Konark (Orissa), he said.
The CTB chairman Krishna Kumar Rai said Chhattisgarh had huge potential of tourism and the government was making every effort to develop it at international level.
The inaugural ceremony was followed by Odissi dance presented by Purnashree Raut and Lucky Mohanti. Thereafter, the students of Indira Gandhi Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya Khairagarh presented Kathak dance. The first day programme concluded with Pandwani presented by Shantibai Chelak.
On Wednesday, painting and photography competition was held from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm followed by Chhattisgarhi folk dance performed by Ramadhar Sahu (Chandaini). Thereafter, Dr Bidya Deshpande from Nashik (Maharashtra) performed Kathak dance.
