Cong reminds BJP of its poll promises

Raipur, September 15, 2012

Congress on Saturday reminded the BJP again of its 2003 and 2008 poll mandates and asked it to fulfill all the promises it had made to farmers and poor of the state.
“The Rs 270 paddy bonus is yet to be distributed to the farmers. The BJP government actually owes Rs 3880 crore paddy bonus of the farmers. Similarly, it had promised to give free electricity up to 5 HP for irrigation purpose, but this benefit seemed far-fetched dream for the farmers,” said Congress spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla.
“During 2003 assembly polls, the BJP had promised to distribute jersey cow to each tribal family, but later it refused to do so. The BJP had also promised to give government job to at least one member of each tribal family, but instead it played tricks on tribal quota system making it legally complicated,” he added.
