BJP govt misusing police to suppress Cong demos: Cong

Raipur, September 12, 2012

Congress has alleged that the BJP government was unable to tolerate protest against it and hence misusing police to suppress dharna, rallies and demonstrations. “The government is also registering false cases against the Congress leaders, an evident indicator of its frustration due to our intense activities,” charged former PCC president Dhanendra Sahu, Satyanarayan Sharma, TS Singhdeo and other Congress leaders jointly on Wednesday.

“The party has been demonstrating democratically on issues like wrong coal blocks allocation in state, black marketing of fertilisers and seeds, etc but the government is misusing police to restrict us,” they said.

They pointed that the government had lodged false cases against Congress leaders when they were going to gherao Sukma collectorate. “The police have registered cases against the Congress leaders under sections 147, 148, 149, 332 and 353. This is sheer conspiracy to suppress the non-violent movements of Congress and we strongly condemn the repressive policies of Raman Singh-government,” they said.

Senior Congress legislator Ajit Jogi said that the BJP was misusing government exchequer and machinery for its demonstrations. “The ruling party has lost its mental balance and making derogatory comments against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi,” he said.
