BJP govt obstacle in tribals’ development: Jogi

Raipur, September 25, 2012

Congress legislator Ajit Jogi on Tuesday termed the BJP government as major obstacle in development of tribals. “Unfortunately, development could not reach tribal belts in last nine years of BJP regime despite ample fund flow from Centre. Evidently, the state government is responsible for ‘no development’ of tribals,” Jogi said.

He also blamed the BJP government for disturbances in the tribal regions. “The then Congress government had succeeded in maintaining peace and tranquility in tribal areas during its three of tenure while now the people there live in terror. Certainly this situation occurred because the government failed to frame concrete policy for tribal development,” he said.

He alleged that the funds allocated for development works in Bastar and Sarguja division went to corrupt hands. “However, some works have been carried out, but none meets requisite norms,” he added.
