No FIR into Sharma suicide case unfortunate: Cong

Raipur, September 15, 2012

Condemning police for not lodging FIR into irrigation department’s sub-engineer Kishor Sharma suicide case, Congress on Saturday said it was unfortunate that despite High Court’s (HC) clear directives into the matter, the police administration, on influence of state government, was not registering case against the guilty people.

“We have already submitted a memorandum to police administration in this connection but no initiative has been taken by far,” said Congress spokesperson Rajesh Bissa.

He said he had reminded the police department in written about the HC directives that said FIR should be lodged on request of applicant.

“Sharma too left a suicide note holding specific persons responsible for his decision to end life. The police have obtained this suicide note but instead of taking action against guilty persons, they are fetching information on only superficial points and trying to close this case. This is sheer contempt of the HC decision,” he said.

He said case should be investigated properly and the BJP leaders, who have come to rescue of the guilty persons, must be exposed.

“It is the frequent intervention of the ruling party members that the police have become untrammeled. The non-committal attitude of the police is evident from Bilaspur SP suicide case as the FIR was not registered even after one month of the incident. Ironically, the police have not even succeeded in finding the laptop of the top cop after he committed suicide,” he added.

He said the Congress would help Sharma family in getting justice if the police administration would not register FIR into the matter.
