The fourth-year student of Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) Rahul
Shrivastava has been elected as new president while third-year student Saurabh
Choudhary became vice president of student bar association (SBA) during the
recently held elections in the varsity campus. The SBA is constituted by 14
committees which will work together with the faculty and administration for the
students’ welfare.
Earlier,
the oath-taking ceremony of SBA’s new body was organised on September 8. The ceremony
was presided over by vice chancellor Dr Sukhpal Singh. He hoped for success of
the committees and congratulated all the newly elected members of the student
body.
Singh said
the students’ association should bring positive changes in the institution with
its contributions.
He
further said the university believes in instilling democratic ideals of the
country in students by grooming them into young leaders for the part they have
to play as the nation's future. “The elections ensure the participation of the
students in running the affairs of the college, thus giving them valuable
experience in terms of organisation and leadership,” he added.
One of
the prominent committee of the SBA is Academic Support committee which helps to
govern, regulate and supervise academic activities and to develop healthy
academic environment in the university and help students to put forward their
grievances to academic section. The committee is headed by Saifur Rahman
Faridi.
While,
the function of disciplinary committee is to maintain discipline in the university,
sort out various disciplinary issues and makes rules for smooth functioning of the
varsity. This committee is headed by Sachin Paul Toppo.
The job
of cultural committee is to look after various cultural events. This panel is headed
by Saurabh Gujarati.
The literary
and debating committee will organise literary events and look after the
participation of various inter and intra university events and is headed by
Saurabh Mishra.
Similarly,
the students’ editorial board will be dealt by Srabanee Ghosh, moot court committee
will be led by Shashank Tripathi and IT and infrastructure committee will be headed
by Antrudh Sujoria.
While
the convenor of the mess committee Convenor will be Neeraj Gehlawat, head of halls
of residence committee will be Rajesh Kumar Mishra and sports committee will be
convened by Hemang Hanumanta.
Besides,
the Library committee will be headed by Amit Kumar, public relations committee
by Apoorva Neral and legal and social services committee will be represented by
Shilpi Bhandari.
