Referring Chief Minister Raman Singh’s recent statement on coal blocks allocation that said – ‘there is no need of probe and disclosure of all records’, the Congress on Friday said the CM seemed scared and disquieted of CBI inquiry into the matter.
“When the central probe agency has not yet started investigation into coal blocks allocation then how come the CM predicted that it would demand record of only fake recommendations for coal blocks,” asked state Congress president Nandkumar Patel and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey.
They alleged the BJP was using government money and machinery to organise rallies to prove the CM untainted.
They said the state government played significant role in first four out of five stages of coal blocks allocation procedures.
“In first stage the Centre invited applications through advertisements for coal blocks. In second stage the applications for Chhattisgarh coal blocks were filtered on consent of state government’s representative. In third stage the state government checked eligibility of the applicant companies by conducting physical verification whether they had their industrial establishment in Chhattisgarh or not. In fourth stage, it was the state government again that fixed total coal requisites of applicant companies by conducting physical verification. In fifth stage the state government approved prospecting license for applicant companies after recommending their names to the Centre,” the duo elaborated.
They held the state government responsible for recommending ineligible companies for coal blocks and asked the CM to step down on moral grounds.
