Health facilities must for industrial labourers: Munat


Raipur, September 08, 2012

Commerce and Industry Minister Rajesh Munat has said that besides congenial working environment, the labourers should also get better health facilities in industries. He urged the industrial associations to take initiative in this regard. 

Munat was speaking during the concluding ceremony of eye test fortnight being organised under joint aegis of state Labour Welfare Board, Urla Industries Association and Sewa Samajik Sansthan at Urla industrial area on Saturday. On the occasion, he also distributed free-of-cost spectacles to about 1038 labourers.

He said the environmental pollution is the main reason for diffusion of several diseases in industrial areas. He urged the industrial associations to mount pressure on the polluting units so that labourers may get healthy environment to work in.

On the occasion, he dedicated new x-ray machine to the public in the local primary health centre. He praised Balaji group for donating the x-ray machine.

He said the industrial associations should also come forward to open an industrial training institute (ITI) in Urla so that the manufacturing units could get skilled manpower. He assured to talk to the government in this connection and provide land and other basic facilities for ITI.

During eye test fortnight, the doctors referred 83 cataract patients for surgery to Ambedkar hospital. The concluding ceremony was also attended by president of Urla Industries Association Vivek Ranjan Gupta along with other office-bearers, district health office DR KR Sonwani, eye specialist Dr Subhash Mishra, commissioner of state Labour Welfare Board Rajesh Shrivastava and of the board and Health department.
