Congress on Monday alleged that the government had deceived Shikshakarmis by not fulfilling their demands of merger with the teachers and payment and post equal to the teachers. “In fact, the government had promised this to the Shikshakarmis during 2008 Assembly elections in its poll manifesto but for some or the other reason, it is stalling to meet their demands continuously,” said PCC president Nandkumar Patel and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey.
They said the government could shrug off after announcing hike in salary of the Shikshakarmis. “Salary hike is insufficient as the Shikshakarmis are still deprived of the provisions they deserve,” they added.
“The government always gave false hope to the Shikshakarmis by constituting different committees and pretending to seriously mull over their demands. Their matter was put twice before Raut and Ajay Chandrakar committees separately but none uttered favourable words for them. Even the Chief Secretary posed indifference towards them when he was given the responsibility to deal the matter,” they alleged.
The duo said that the Congress would strongly protest the government’s apathy towards Shikshakarmis.
