New police stations to be opened in Kenda, Kenwachi
Steps to be taken after filling vacant posts of police in Bilaspur district
Raipur, April 02, 2012
Home Minister Nankiram Kanwar has announced that the government will take steps on its assurances of making Pendra-Gaurella a police district and opening new police stations as well as police training schools in Kenda and Kenwachi. Kanwar’s announcement came while he was replying to call attention notices of Congress legislators Ajit Jogi, Dr Renu Jogi and Dr Shiv Kumar Daharia at state Assembly on Monday.
Dr Renu Jogi raised the broad-daylight robbery case held at Pendra Road on March 28, 2012 in which the robbers killed the rural bank employee carrying Rs ten lakh by firing at him and decamping with the money. She alleged that the police came into action after several hours of the incident and hence the robbers could not be caught.
“Postings of cops are being done in Pendra Road police station as if they are being punished. Seven TIs have been transferred in five years. The post of ASP too remained vacant for two years. There has been marked increase in the activities of Maoists and opium smugglers. Still, there is a time to open approved police stations in this region or else it would be a matter of disgrace for me and embarrassment for the government,” she said.
She pointed that the condition of Gaurella police station too lacked adequate police staff. “Only 20 cops are working in this police station while the number of approved posts is 41,” she said.
Congress legislator Dharmjeet Singh said that robbery cases would surely occur if the police stations would lack sufficient staff.
Parliamentary Affairs Secretary for Home department Vijay Baghel informed the House that the police had obtained some clues and the robbers would soon be trapped.
He further informed that the recruitment of police force was under process and approved police stations would be opened after training of the cops.
He said the decision to make Pendra-Gaurella a police district and to open new police stations would be taken only after conducting survey of the region and talks between Chief Minister and Home Minister.
