The budget session of state Assembly concluded on Wednesday as Speaker Dharamlal Kaushik adjourned the House sine die. He informed that the budget session was scheduled to be conducted from March 12, 2012 to April 13, 2012, but the House decided to conclude it on April 4 by evolving unanimity.
The House proceedings in budget session were conducted for 105 hours 29 minutes for 20 work days. The House received 2412 questions during the session, 892 starred questions were accepted while debate was conducted on 187. The rate of verbal question per day in the session was 11 in the current session.
Kaushik informed that debate was held on 72 demands of 48 departments and all demands were approved.
The House received 19 non-governmental resolutions of which three were tabled and all of them were passed.
The House received 136 notices during Zero Hour of which 58 were accepted while 78 were rejected.
Besides, the House received 488 call attention notices out of which 81 were accepted while 373 were rejected. The number of petitions tabled in the House this time was 118.
The government tabled nine Bills in the budget session and six were passed. Similarly, the government also tabled 21 reports.
Kaushik congratulated Dr Bhushan Lal Jangde for being elected unopposed for the vacant post of Rajya Sabha.
He mentioned the condition of verbal spat which was developed between Agriculture Minister Chandrashekhar Sahu and Congress MLA Dharmjeet Singh during debate on budget on March 23, 2012 and said both members regretted in the House pertaining to the words they used which consolidates the coordination between ruling and opposition parties as well as the parliamentary system.
He congratulated the Chief Minister for presenting separate Agriculture budget for 2012-13 and said it was an attempt to acknowledge that Agriculture is the most significant subject as majority of the state’s population depends on it.
He informed the House that Chhattisgarh Assembly had become first in the country to provide sports facilities to its members, officials and employees by constructing indoor sports auditorium in the Vidhan Sabha premises. The sports auditorium was inaugurated by Governor on April 2, 2012.
He informed that highest number of audience (16300) visited Vidhan Sabha and watched House proceedings in the current budget session. The audience ranged from representatives of different organisations, public representatives, schools students, etc. He said the increasing visitors in the Assembly were an indicator of increasing public interest in democratic system.
