In this connection, Vibhar has sought state government’s intervention so that the railway could provide land quickly.
“The railway is ready to provide about eight hectare lands in WRD area but it wants market rate of the land which is very high. Alternatively, if the government would take initiative and provide some land to the railway elsewhere against the land for poor in WRS area, the housing project under BSUP scheme can be started soon,” she said.
She informed that she had given application to the railway regarding land provision several times in the past and had also urged the government to help expedite the process, but in vain.
“The poor at WRS are living in slums for the past fifty years. If the government is rehabilitating the poor from other parts of the city to pucca houses then why could not the poor from WRS get similar facility,” she asked.
