Chhattisgarh turns into duplicate fertiliser market: Choubey

Asks govt to check naxal violence, contract killings, illegal liquor sale, fake notes & weapons’ supply

Monsoon session of Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha

Raipur, July 16, 2012

Hitting hard at government over seizure of 10000 bags of duplicate fertiliser from a factory based at Rajnandgaon, CLP leader Ravindra Choubey says that the state has turned into duplicate fertiliser market.
“How come the factory manufacturing duplicate fertiliser exists in the state and what was the government doing all these years? The relevant officials who stalled action against the factory should be suspended with an immediate effect and FIR should be lodged against them,” said Choubey during his address on grant demands on first supplementary budget for 2012-13 during monsoon session of state Assembly on Monday.
Law and order failed
On law and order he said despite provision of ample funds and forces by the Centre to deal Maoists the government failed to curb extremism. “We do not want you to stop anti-naxal operations but you should at least make an effective strategy to wipe out these ultras. And, before making plans, the ministers and officials should visit Bastar and see the ground reality,” he suggested.
Similarly, he said, the government should reply as how did its liquor sale revenue beat the previous year’s record despite its claims of closure of large number of liquor shops. He said the government had failed to curb illegal liquor sale.
He further said that the trend of contract killing was growing at faster rate in the state, especially in the capital city which had witnessed a few incidents in the recent past with the latest being a murder attempt through shootout in Katora Talab. He also pointed that fake notes were being supplied at large-scale in northern Chhattisgarh. “While the recent seizures of ammunitions in Raipur indicate that a big racket is active in the state,” he said.
He asked the government to check naxal violence, contract killings, illegal liquor sale and supply of fake notes and weapons and & ammunitions in the state.
He questioned the credibility of Public Service Commission (PSC) and said it had failed to conduct exams transparently in past eight years.
Where is surplus power?
On energy sector he said despite government’s promises regarding provision of free electricity to the farmers they receive inordinate power bill. “The government claims that Chhattisgarh is a power surplus state but frequent power cuts can be seen in both rural and urban areas. Where is the excess power going,” he asked. He also lashed at the government for hiking power tariff.
Govt benefiting capitalist
On toll plaza being constructed near Sundar nagar at Ring Road No 1 he said the government should explain why the implementing agency did not stop construction works at the site despite clear instructions from the Chief Secretary. He criticised the PWD Minister Brijmohan Agrawal for not protesting against the toll plaza site in his constituency despite the proposal being against the agreement signed by the implementing agency and the government. He said the government buckled down before a specific capitalist and wanted to benefit him by not changing the toll plaza site.
