Jogi demands CBI probe into PDS scam

Raipur, June 29, 2012

Senior Congress legislator Ajit Jogi has demanded CBI probe into black marketing of food grains transported to Mahasamund district’s Bhukel, Saraipali and Pendravan fair price shops under PDS.
“The government does not seem serious in inquiring into the PDS scam. About 25 suspects have been trapped but the statement of only seven has been taken and the final report has been forwarded to the government,” Jogi said.
“The government’s claims about its effective PDS are empty boastings. When the poor in capital city have not received food grains under PDS for the past several months then can we expect that the people residing in remote areas would be getting the benefit of the scheme,” he said.
He alleged that ruling BJP had allocated at least 5-6 fair price shops to each of its worker and large number of fake BPL cards had been made.
“In fact, the touts linked to BJP are overtly engaged in black marketing of the food grains in the state but the government has posed mysterious silence,” he said.
