BJP dharna against FSSA ridiculous, anti-people: Cong

Congress has termed BJP business cell dharna against implementation of Food Safety and Standard Act (FSSA) ridiculous and anti-people.

“In fact, the dharna becomes irrelevant after the BJP business cell obtains Chief Minister’s assurance that the FSSA would not be implemented strictly in the state. It was only after the CM’s assurance the BJPians had revoked their 72-hour state bandh appeal against FSSA. Now, why so fuss against the Act,” said president of Congress business cell Kanhaiyya Agrawal on Monday.

He said the FSSA was in favour of public and it should be implemented in every state. “Besides being businessmen, we are also consumers and we have right to get food materials within specified standards,” he said.

He informed that the Congress business cell had raised its objections with the Centre over some stringent sections of the Act and demanded their removal.
