State Congress gave a warm welcome to its presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee during his arrival at Mana airport on Wednesday noon. Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Industry Charandas Mahant, AICC secretary and state unit incharge secretary Bhakt Charandas, state unit president Nandkumar Patel, CLP leader Ravindra Choubey, Vidya Charan Shukla, Ajit Jogi and about 30 PCC office-bearers were prominently present at airport to welcome Mukherjee.
From airport, Mukherjee straightaway proceeded to VIP road-based hotel where he was scheduled to meet 39 Congress and two BSP MLAs. Before Mukherjee’s address, Patel and Choubey briefly put their words before legislators.
After Mukherjee’s address, the deputy CLP leader Rampukar Singh and senior tribal Congress legislator Bodhram Kanwar felicitated Mukherjee with a memento. On the occasion, the two BSP MLAs also felicitated Mukherjee with a memento.
Earlier, the Congmen were seen jostling each other to enter the airport to welcome Mukherjee. Although the party had obtained 36 entry passes, several legislators and senior leaders were denied permission to get in the airport lounge. However, the suspended NSUI state president Devendra Yadav was seen entering the airport with pass.
Similar was the scene at the hotel where many congress leaders were stopped at the gate.
