A 60-member delegation of Congress led by PCC chief Nandkumar Patel on Monday visited Sarkeguda (60 km away from Bijapur district headquarters) to meet family members of those who were killed during police-naxal encounter in the region on June 28, 2012.
The delegation was comprised of 15 MLAs, PCC and DCC office-bearers from Bastar division. Notably, the Congress had earlier demanded CBI probe into the matter alleging that innocent women and children were killed in the encounter. Later, the state government announced to conduct judicial inquiry into the matter.
According to information, Patel will forward the report of his Sarkeguda visit to the high command through AICC general secretary and state Congress incharge BK Hariprasada who will reach Raipur on Tuesday evening to take part in the party’s two-day workers’ training camp in Ambikapur on July 25 and 26.
