Cong complains IG of police harassment

Raipur, July 25, 2012

A delegation of Congress members on Wednesday complained IG Mukesh Gupta that the police were harassing their fellow partymen. In this connection, the delegation submitted a memorandum to Gupta and pointed that case registered by Tikarapara police against DCC Raipur Urban president Inderchand Dhariwal and other Congress leaders under section 188 on July 21 was unjust.
Demanding action against the TI Tikarapara police station, the delegation said that he had slapped the section against the Congmen merely for protesting against toll plaza site at Pachpedi Naka. “None of the Congmen obstructed the road traffic during protest. However, case was registered against them with an intention to harass them,” it added.
It further alleged that the police administration was biased against the Congress and never takes action against the BJPians who always violate the rules during their protest movements.
The delegation warned of gheraoing Tikarapara police station if action would not be taken against the TI.
The delegation was comprised of PCC secretary Amit Pandey, Madanlal Taleda, Nischay Bajpayee, Shiekh Shakeel, Dilip Chouhan, Sandeep Tiwari, Nirmal Sharma, Dr Niranjan Haritwal, etc.
