Toll plaza issue: Cong, NSS to conduct public survey

Raipur, July 03, 2012

Congress and Nagrik Sangharsh Samiti (NSS) have decided to conduct public survey to know whether people want to shift the toll plaza site from the vicinity of Sundar Nagar at Ring Road No 1 to out of RMC limits or not.
“Considering the adamant attitude of DS Vicon, the implementing agency of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for fourlane project at Ring Road No 1, to build toll plaza near Sundar Nagar despite clear instructions of Chief Secretary to shift the site out of city, we have decided to go for public survey. In this connection, we have hired an independent agency which will start the survey from July 5,” said state president of Congress business cell Kanhaiyya Agrawal.
“Meanwhile, we will continue protesting under-construction toll plaza through our public awareness campaign,” he added.
The Congress on Tuesday interacted with residents and shopkeepers of Sundar Nagar, Changora Bhatha and Kushalpur. “The locals in these areas hailed our effort and said they too would protest toll plaza construction near Sundar Nagar,” Agrawal said.
“The locals were also upset with Raipur South Assembly legislator and PWD Minister Brijmohan Agrawal for not objecting finalisation of toll plaza site in his constituency,” he said.
On Tuesday, the drive was led by DCC Raipur Urban President Inderchand Dhariwal and participated by PCC secretary Amit Pandey, Nischay Bajpayee, Ashwini Sharma, Vikas Shukla, Ashok Tamrakar, Abhishek Mishra, Akash Tiwari, Sushil Sachdev, Atul Raghuvanshi, Sachin Golechha, Sadhna Sharma, Nandu Yadu, Kavita Baghel, Purushottam Sharma, etc.
