Congress on Monday hailed contempt notice issued by High Court to DS Construction which continued construction of toll plaza near Sundar Nagar at Ring Road No 1 despite HC order to stop it.
“Besides, the HC has directed PWD (for national highway) chief engineer DK Agrawal and national Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to ensure the construction work should not have progressed after July 13, 2012,” informed state president of Congress business cell Kanhaiyya Agrawal.
“The petition seeking HC intervention pertaining to toll plaza construction was filed by Nagrik Sangharsh Samiti representative Nischay Bajpayee. Accepting his plea, the HC shot notice to the DS Construction,” Agrawal said.
He advised the BJPians not to waste their time in giving statements on toll plaza and rather pressurise its government to follow the HC orders on the public-related issue.
“It was the state government that nodded for the selected toll plaza site in near Sundar Nagar and the Centre has nothing to do with this. In fact, the Central agency’s approval for the toll plaza site came nine months after the state government’s nod and only on the latter’s request,” Agrawal said.
