Alleges institute get affiliation sans producing documents
Raipur, July 25, 2012
Youth Congress (YC) has demanded from Pt Ravishankar Shukla University (RSU) to derecognise Shankaracharya College Bhilai alleging that it obtained affiliation without producing documents to the varsity’s academic department. “This graft was done by the RSU officials who have nexus with the institute’s administration,” charged YC’s Raipur Lok Sabha president Vinod Tiwari after submitting memorandum to varsity vice chancellor Professor SK Pandey on Wednesday.
Tiwari informed that Gangajali Education Society (GES), which operates Shankaracharya College in sector-6 Bhilai, also operates a school in the same building against the norms.
“The college offers too many courses without infrastructure. It runs courses like B Sc, M Sc, B Com, M Com, MA, BBA and BCA. Besides, it is offering B Ed and M Ed courses for the past six years,” he said.
Tiwari informed that he had sought detailed information regarding the college from the varsity’s public information officer (PIO) by submitting an application on November 26, 2011.
When he did not get any reply from the PIO, he submitted application to first appellate officer on December 29, 2011, but in vain. He them moved to Sate Information Commission on February 1, 2012 which fixed hearing on the matter on June 8, 2012.
“In the hearing, the PIO admitted in written that the GES never submitted any document related to land and other existing infrastructure (including teaching staff, laboratory, library, building, etc) of Shankaracharya College Bhilai to the varsity. This proves that the college obtained affiliation by greasing the palms of the varsity officials,” Tiwari said.
“Even the VC startled when we informed about this corruption and assured us that he would conduct probe into the matter and take stern action against guilty officials,” he added.
While submitting the memorandum, Tiwari was accompanied by Sandeep Yadu, Rubal Mehta, Sayed Umer, Bijju Banjare, Guddu Jethi, Pratap Singh, Mukesh Verma, Taresh Sahu, Bittu Sharma, etc.
