Demanding quick conduction of students’ union polls the members ofNSUI gheraoed the administrative block of Pt Ravishankar Shukla University (RSU) on Friday. The NSUI’s Raipur district president Pradeep Sahu alleged that the varsity administration called police to suppress the voice of protestors.
Sloganeering against the varsity admin, the NSUI members asked it to adopt direct system of students’ union polls. “With no polls, the students are at loss as there is no one to heed their problems,” said Sahu.
He said that the students should not be kept deprived of their basic rights and they must get opportunity to use their voting power to choose their leaders.
He alleged that the state government too was uninterested in students’ union polls because it was scared of NSUI’s popularity.
Sahu warned of launching signature campaign in every college of Raipur district if the varsity would not meet NSUI’s demands.
On the occasion, Sahu was accompanied by Ravi Sen, Ajay Pal, Tarachand Mishra, Rajesh Nishad, Manish Yadav, Tarun Soni, Vicky Pandey, Mukesh Sahu, Akash Kashyap, Ayush Agrawal, Shashikant Berore, Aman Thakur, etc.
