Protesting transfer of Durg District Education Officer (DEO) BL Kurre to Dhamtari the NSUI activists on Saturday tried to gherao School Education Minister Brijmohan Agrawal, but were held before the minister’s residence. The cops took them to Civil Lines police station from where they were released after sometime.
The NSUI activists, who were accompanied by members of Durg Palak Sangh, said Kurre’s transfer was unjust and a biased move to harass the official who had taken wise decision in favour of students.
“It was Kurre who took the initiative in Durg and imposed hefty fine on two schools – KPS and MGM for charging high fee from the students. However, the government, instead of appreciating his steps, not only transferred him but also demoted him to a principal’s job in one of the schools in Dhamtari,” said NSUI Raipur district president Pradeep Sahu.
“The government is trying to suppress the voice of an honest official. The NSUI will not tolerate this and continue to protest till the government cancels Kurre’s transfer,” Sahu added.
During Saturday protest movement, Sahu was accompanied by Ravi Sen, Ajay Pal, Rajesh Nishad, Ishant Soni, Vicky Pandey, Mohit Pathak, Jaipal Bharti, Tarun Soni, Amitabh Ghosh, Lokesh Verma, Mahesh Yadav, etc.
