YC burns effigy of BJP, CM
Raipur, July 27, 2012
Protesting the derogatory remarks of AICC general secretary and state Congress incharge BK Hariprasada against BJP and RSS the members of BJYM showed him black flag and made failed attempt of hurling ink on him at Mana airport on Friday.
Notably, Hariprasada had uttered derogatorily against BJP and RSS during two-day workers’ training camp of Congress at Ambikapur on July 25 and 26. The angry BJPians showed black flags to Hariprasada at Bilaspur on July 26 night. This led to minor clash between Congmen and BJPians on the occasion.
Apprehending that Hariprasada can face similar circumstance at Raipur after returning from Ambikapur to proceed for New Delhi, some of the top cops had reportedly advised the senior Congress leadership to change the route of his convoy while going to airport.
As state government has provided security to PCC president Nandkumar Patel and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey, both were expected to escort Hariprasada to airport, but none were party of his convoy.
Instead, PCC secretary Amit Pandey, YC’s Raipur North general secretary Dilip Singh Chouhan and a couple of party workers accompanied Hariprasada. These Congmen, however, changed the route of state unit incharge’s convoy and instead of adopting VIP road, they preferred Naya Raipur road via Pachpedi Naka to reach airport.
Alleging that the police did not made adequate arrangement to prevent the incident, the YC state vice president Deepak Mishra and others burnt effigies of BJP and Chief Minister Raman Singh at Rajiv Gandhi chowk.
It was BJP-sponsored protest: Congress
Sharply reacting over the incident, PCC president Nandkumar Patel and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey termed it as BJP-sponsored under police protection. Justifying Hariprasada’s utterances against the BJP and RSS the duo warned the ruling party to stop using police as its army.
“The BJP is trying to intimidate opposition using goons and misusing its powers,” they charged.
“This is a wrong trend set by the BJP. If its members can hurl ink on our national leaders, their national leaders too can face similar resistance during their state visits. We will surely not keep quiet if such incident would occur again,” they warned.
Cong demands action against BJYM activists
Protesting the ink hurling incident, a delegation of Congmen submitted a memorandum to SSP Dipanshu Kaabra demanding action against BJYM activist in 24 hours. They warned Kaabra of staging massive dharna before his office if action would be delayed.
The Congmen also plan to brief the incident to DGP Anil Newaney and IG Mukesh Gupta.
The delegation that met Kaabra was comprised of DCC Raipur Urban president Inderchand Dhariwal, DCC Raipur Rural president Pankaj Sharma, Sheikh Shakeel, Satnam Singh Panag, Samir Akhtar, Kamlesh Mishra, Yogendra Sharma, Manish Dayal, Sharik Rais Khan, Shreekumar Menon, Ghanshyam Raju Tiwari, Sumit Das, Mamta Rai, etc.
