Cong to appoint block incharges in BJP bastions

Raipur, July 25, 2012

With an objective to change poll equations in its favour in the BJP bastions before 2013 Assembly elections, Congress will appoint block incharges in those regions. The responsibility will be given to vice presidents and general secretaries of DCCs. These appointments will commence from Raipur Lok Sabha as the constituency incharge for the party Devvrat Singh took a decision in this regard during a meeting at Congress Bhawan on Wednesday.
While the party leadership has already given charge of Lok Sabha constituencies to PCC general secretaries and BJP stronghold Assembly areas to secretaries, Singh felt that it is now turn to concentrate at block-level.
The block incharges will be first appointed in the Assembly seats won by BJP. The aim is to figure out the reasons of Congress decline in such regions. For this, Singh has selected six VS seats held by BJP.
According to information, the block incharges will prepare a comprehensive report of their assigned areas so that the party could chalk out strategy to increase its voters in such places.
The party further aims to pick the most apt candidate in BJP stronghold areas during 2013 polls. Hence, the report of block incharges would be crucial while shortlisting candidates.
In the meeting, some of DCC office-bearers pointed that the VS incharges barely visit their assigned constituencies. Notably, the general secretaries and secretaries have not been given charges of their home VS areas. The party workers feel that hence the LS and VS incharges could neither concentrate in their assigned areas nor in their home constituencies.
