On CM announcement on judicial probe into naxal encounter
Raipur, July 06, 2012
Reacting on Chief Raman Singh’s announcement on judicial inquiry into Basaguda-Korsaguda naxal encounter case, state Congress president Nandkumar Patel and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey said that their party had full trust and judiciary. “We hope that the tribals will justice after the inquiry,” they said on Friday.
They said, however, the CM during his announcement made an objectionable remark that the decision to conduct judicial probe was taken after the naxal encounter issue was exaggeratingly publicised.
“It is unfortunate that the CM had not uttered anything on naxal encounter by far but when he did, his words were against innocent tribals who got killed during the incident,” they added.
“The facts of naxal encounter unearthed with the CM’s statement that he had briefed the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram about the incident. If the Maoists are shielding themselves behind the tribals then it is the government’s responsibility to ensure that the innocents may not get killed,” they said.
“The killing of tribals in Bastar is really a serious issue. The government has rather failed to protect the people of Chhattisgarh,” they said.
They said the CM should also clarify his stance over irresponsible statements of Home Minister Nankiram Kanwar against opposition’s and villagers.
