Pradesh Mahila Congress (PMC) will now take on the ruling BJP on women harassment cases. A decision in this regard has been taken by the PMC during a meeting convened by organisation’s state president Ambika Markam at Congress Bhawan on Friday.
Markam said the women in the state were unsafe under BJP regime. “The women harassment cases have sharply increased in the past eight years. Such cases are more prominent in the BJP stronghold areas. The government has completely failed to curb its untrammelled officials. The PMC will take these issues to streets in coming days,” said Markam.
Besides, the PMC also decided to raise all the burning issues including lathicharge on tribals, forcible acquisition of farmers’ land, Balod eye camp incident, etc.
Markam further asked the PMC’s district unit heads to quickly constitute executive bodies of their respective regions so that the organisation could focus in its preparation for mission 2013.
She also urged the office-bearers to increase organisational domain by launching massive membership campaign.
