The AICC general secretary and state Congress incharge BK Hariprasada enquired about cross voting in presidential polls from PCC chief Nandkumar Patel and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey on Tuesday. Hariprasada, who reached state capital on Tuesday evening through regular flight from New Delhi , held close door talks with Patel and Choubey regarding cross voting for about one hour.
According to information, Patel and Choubey had reportedly informed Hariprasada that it was actually not cross voting but the two votes were cast to the NDA candidate PA Sangma mistakenly. However, the party has by far failed to clarify as how its MLAs failed to commit mistake when they had been given instructions and guidance about polling beforehand.
Hariprasada will submit his report to the high command on cross voting by the party MLAs in state. On the basis of the report, the national leadership will issue fresh guidelines for the state unit, informed sources.
Notably, indiscipline and factionalism are said to be major points of concern for the PCC. With nearing Assembly polls the party cannot afford sacking its leaders and workers for going against partyline. Hence, it is continuously organising workers’ meetings and training camps at different levels. Hariprasada is on state visit to attend the party’s two-day training camp at Ambikapur (Sarguja division).
Earlier, Hariprasada was welcomed at Mana airport by Patel, Choubey, MLA Paresh Bagbahra, PCC secretary Amit Pandey, DCC Raipur urban president Inderchand Dhariwal, etc. from airport, Hariprasada reached New Circuit House where he held talks with Patel and Choubey.
