Congress on Wednesday staged day-long dharna at Azad Chowk against construction of toll plaza near Sundar Nagar at Ring Road No 1. The party also has decided to gherao PWD Minister Brijmohan Agrawal on July 16 for giving permission for toll plaza construction at the given site which falls under his Raipur South Assembly constituency.
The Congress business cell state president Kanhaiyya Agrawal informed that the party would stage dharna in each ward of Raipur South Vidhan Sabha area with demand to shifting of toll plaza site from the vicinity of Sundar Nagar.
“We have also invited people protesting toll plaza in city limits to participate in our dharna programmes,” he said.
The party will stage dharna at Bhathagaon and Sundar Nagar Chowk on July 13 and 14 respectively, he informed.
The dharna at Azad Chowk was led by DCC Raipur Urban President Inderchand Dhariwal.
