Congress on Thursday flayed PWD Minister Brijmohan Agrawal for not protesting toll plaza site near Sundar Nagar at Ring Road No 1 – the area that comes under his Raipur South Assembly constituency. “Agrawal has deceived his voters. The toll plaza should be named after him,” said Congress leader Yogesh Tiwari during dharna programme organised by the party and other organisations at Azad Chowk against toll plaza in city limits.
The DCC Raipur Urban President Inderchand Dhariwal said the party would intensify the protest movement in coming days. “We will stage dharna in each ward of Raipur South Vidhan Sabha area followed by janata curfew in every ward. We will also call bandh in this Assembly constituency,” he said.
Former chairman of State Finance Commission Virendra Pandey said in democracies like India, the government supports public but it was happening just opposite in Chhattisgarh.
“Unfortunately, the corrupt state government is rather supporting construction agency instead of the public into toll plaza issue,” he added.
The general secretary of Chhattisgarh Swabhiman Manch Vishnu Baghel said after selling water, lands and forests of the state, the toll plaza scam would be another feather in the government’s cap.
The representative of Chhattisgarh Party Ashok Tamrakar demanded CBI inquiry into selection of toll plaza site.
Notably, the Congress has announced that it would gherao the PWD Minister on July 16.
The Congmen who attended the dharna programme were DCC Raipur Rural President Pankaj Sharma, Dr Niranjan Haritwal, Madanlal Taleda, Ramesh Singh Thakur, Congress business cell state president Kanhaiyya Agrawal, Akash Tiwari, Amit Pandey, Sunil Bazari, Anita Futan, Anjay Shukla, Nivedita Chaterjee, Mamta Rai, Supriya Rai, Pappu Banjare, Sushil Sachdev, Dilip Agrawal, Sumit Das, etc.
