Cong flays HM for naxal remark

Raipur, June 30, 2012

Congress on Saturday said flayed Home Minister Nankiram Kanwar for stating that villagers, women and children killed during police and naxal encounter in Dantewada district were Maoists.
The PCC president Nandkumar Patel and Ravindra Choubey have termed HM’s remark as irresponsible and alleged that the government’s negligent attitude resulted in rise of naxalism in the state.
Senior Congress legislator Ajit Jogi, on the other hand, has demanded CBI inquiry into the matter. “According to media report, it seems several people including women and children got killed during encounter. This creates suspicion. Hence the inquiry should be conducted through the transparent agency like CBI,” Jogi said.
Notably, the Congress has constituted 12-member committee that will probe the number of civil casualty during police and naxal encounter near village Bansaguda (Dantewada district) late at June 28 night. The committee will submit its report in one week.
