The voters’ list for Youth Congress (YC) polls is likely to be declared by August 10. The YC polls are said to be conducted in the second fortnight of September 2012 and booth, Assembly, Lok Sabha and state level bodies would be elected before September 30.
According to information, voters’ list is being prepared for YC polls and would soon be announced. Claims and objections regarding voters’ list will then be invited and final voters’ list will be declared by August end, informed sources.
The YC’s membership campaign started on May 24, 2012 and concluded on June 20, 2012. The organisation received 345681 applications for new membership – about 279319 applications short of the magical targeted figure of ten lakh. This time, the existing YC members too renewed their membership according to new format of the polls.
According to information, about 2000 returning officers will be engaged in YC polls. To consolidate Congress at booth level for 2013 Assembly polls, the YC aims to constitute committee in every booth. The organisation has also ensured to increase representation of females in different level committees and hence there will be 33% reservation for them in this YC polls.
The organisation will hold polls for 20937 booth committees. There will be five office-bearers (president – 1, vice president – 1, general secretary – 3) in every booth-committee. While posts of president and vice president will be open for all categories, each of three posts of general secretary will be reserved for OBC/minority, SC/ST and women.
Similarly, there will be ten posts each at Assembly, Lok Sabha and state committees (president - 1, vice president - 1, general secretaries – 8).
In state and Assembly committees, the post of president, vice president and general secretary (three posts) will be open for all categories while remaining each of five posts of general secretary will be reserved for SC/ST, OBC, minority, women, SC/ST and women.
In Lok Sabha committees, the post of president will either be open for all categories or reserved for SC/ST. Similarly, the post of vice president and general secretary (three posts) will also be open for all categories and remaining each of five posts of general secretary will be reserved for SC/ST, OBC, minority, women, SC/ST and women.
