The proposed site of toll plaza will now be shifted out of city. Chief Secretary Sunil Kumar on Thursday issued clear instructions to the officials of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and PWD to shift the site when a delegation of Congress members handed him a memorandum saying that the toll plaza in the city limits would cause gross inconvenience to the locals.
“The CS strongly rebuked the NHAI project officer Vijay Shrivastava and the PWD officials for selecting wrong site for toll plaza. He termed the public anger as genuine against the toll plaza in the vicinity of Sundar Nagar,” informed state president of Congress business cell Kanhaiyya Agrawal.
“The CS also suggested the NHAI to either merge the toll plaza with the existing one at Kumhari or to construct a new one at Arang road out of city. He said there should be only one toll plaza on the newly constructed fourlane road from Tatibandh (Raipur) to Arang,” Agrawal added.
“The CS further said that not more than ten percent toll should be taken for using five kilometre road. He also instructed the NHAI to quickly complete the pending works of the fourlane project,’ Agrawal said.
“It is unfortunate that despite directives of the CS, the construction works of toll plaza near Sundar Nagar have not been stopped,” he said.
On the occasion were present PWD Principal Secretary RP Mandal, PWD (National Highway) chief engineer DK Agrawal and other officials.
The Congress delegation was comprised of DCC Raipur Urban President Inderchand Dhariwal, DCC Raipur Rural President Pankaj Sharma, RMC Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak, PCC secretary Amit Pandey, Dr Niranjan Haritwal, Nischay Bajpayee, Ashwini Sharma, Sheikh Shakeel, Atul Raghuvanshi, Madan Lal Taleda, etc.
