Cong flays Brijmohan for inviting Vedanti in Rajim kumbh

Raipur, January 24, 2012

The Congress on Monday flayed Tourism and Culture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal for paying courtesy visit to Ramvilas Vedanti at Durg and inviting him in Rajim kumbh. The PCC president Nandkumar Patel said that the government should clarify its intentions for extending friendly gestures to a criminal who is absconding in police record.
Senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi, on the other hand, sought explanation from the government regarding the permission it lent to Vedanti to deliver discourses in Durg despite knowing that police was searching him.
“Vedanti has spewed venom against Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and minority communities at Rajim kumbh. He should have been behind the bars at present, but instead the government is honouring him like its guest and inviting him in Rajim kumbh,” Jogi said.
“However, this time, the Congress would not keep quiet and would make every attempt to prevent Vedanti from entering Rajim,” Jogi announced.
The PCC’s chief spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said that it was unfortunate that the ruling party’s own minister was trying to disturb law and order of the state by inviting criminals like Vedanti.
He said there were adequate evidences including video recording and eye witnesses of Vedanti episode but the police was deliberately stalling the matter and refraining from arresting him.
