The Youth Congress (YC) on Tuesday gheraoed the passport office based at Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Nagar in protest against increasing dominance of the agents and inconvenience of the common people. The YC members led by the organisation’s Raipur South Vidhan Sabha general secretary Sandeep Tiwari also submitted a memorandum to the office incharge M Lakra and warned of taking the issue to the streets if the people applying for new passport would be dealt neglectfully.
“You will always find the commoners getting frustrated after visiting several times to the passport office regarding their application for new passport. The agents, on the other hand, get preference there. The fee to make new passport is Rs 1000 while the agents charge Rs 2000. When the commoners do not get response from the passport office, they do not have any other option than to take help of the agents,” he said.
The YC members who submitted memorandum were Azhar Rahman, Niyaz Imran, Nandu, Benjo, Akash Sharma, Nikki Dongre, Bhavesh Shukla, Vishnu Sharma, Rakesh Sharma, Nurul, Gaurav Shrivastava, Ujjwal, etc.
