Alleging that favouritism prevailed in Chhattisgarh Handicraft Development Board (CHDB), the members of Youth Congress (YC) gheraoed the board office on Friday. They alleged that the board was not transparent in allocating works to the self help groups (SHGs).
The general secretary of YC’s Raipur South Vidhan Sabha Sandeep Tiwari charged that the board was giving dress stitching work to closer ones of ruling party instead of SHGs.
“The board does not follow any norm while allocating works. Therefore, the poor villagers and farmers are suffering. The board gives lame pretexts to the SHGs regarding allocation of works stitching like – stock of clothes has been exhausted or the works have been given to other SHGs,” Tiwari said.
“We have sought information from the board pertaining to the benchmark they had set for allocation of works and the SHGs got assignments,” he said.
Earlier, the YC members entered board’s MD office to their demands before him, but in his absence, they submitted a memorandum to general manager MM Joshi. They announced that to gherao board MD on January 23.
During submission of memorandum, Tiwari was accompanied by Azhar Rahman, Niyaz Ahmed, Gaurav Shrivastava, Bablu Raza, Akash Shamra, Bhavesh Shukla, Ujjwal, Ishwar, Chaitram Khatriy, etc.
