YC launches signature drive for new airport terminal

Raipur, January 10, 2012

The Youth Congress (YC) on Tuesday launched signature campaign demanding from the government to name new international airport terminal at Mana after former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. The signature drive commenced at 12 pm at Jaistambh chowk.
“Our demand is genuine. Rajiv Gandhi was a trained pilot. Before entering into politics, he had frequently visited to Raipur as a professional pilot. He had also made efforts for upgradation and modernisation of Mana airport. Hence the new international terminal should be named after him,” said the president of YC Raipur Lok Sabha Vinod Tiwari.
Notably, the YC had recently submitted memorandum to Collector Dr Rohit Yadav in favour of its demand. “We will also put our demand before Chief Minister Raman Singh by submitting him a memorandum in coming days,” he said.
The YC also plans to send thousands of postcards to Union Aviation Minister Ajit Singh urging him to fulfill their demand.
The YC members present during signature campaign were Indrajeet Singh, Sushil Agrawal, Ashish Dubey, Surendra Tiwari, Sameer Chouhan, Vicky Pandey, Rubal Mehta, Sandeep Yadu, etc.
