The Congress
general secretary and Raipur Lok Sabha incharge Devvrat Singh has directed all
the BCC heads of Raipur Urban to mandatorily constitute executive bodies of
their blocks by January 14. Singh convened a meeting of Raipur Urban BCC heads
at Congress Bhawan on Friday and asked them to increase party activities in
their areas from expanding Congress domain to raising issues against BJP
government.
He asked the BCC heads
to form teams the partymen to keep a hawk’s eye on paddy procurement
procedures. He further directed them to mount pressure on relevant officials at
tehsil level to extend date of paddy procurement.
Considering proposed
hike in power tariff, he said the partymen should strongly object the move by submitting
memorandums to the officials of the power companies.
He said block-level
workers’ meetings should be organised from January 14 to 30. For this, he asked
the BCC heads to fix the date of meetings and inform about it in next couple of
days. He instructed them to raise all the major issues against the government
at workers’ meetings and expose the ruling party’s ministers, local leaders and
public representatives.
He also gave them
target to increase party membership 500 from each block in January 2012. He
suggested that the membership drive could be expedited by linking staunch
Congress supporting families.
The meeting was
attended by state Congress secretaries Shiv Singh Thakur, Amit Pandey, Ayesha
Siddiqui, DCC Raipur Urban president Inderchand Dhariwal, Dr Niranjan Haritwal,
Suresh Mishra, Madan Lal Taleda, Pankaj Sharma, Ghanshyam Raju Tiwari, etc.
