The Congress has decided
to increase its agitations against government in 2012. For this, protest
movements at state, Vidhan Sabha and block levels would be launched by the
partymen throughout the year. The decision was taken by the party during its
meeting held at Congress Bhawan on Monday. Besides this, three more meetings
were organised at party’s state office including disciplinary, monitoring and
NSUI state executive meets.
The first meeting was
convened jointly by PCC president Nandkumar Patel and CLP Leader Ravindra
Choubey. The meeting started at 12 pm and lasted for over two hours. During the
meeting the party reviewed its previous year’s performance and chalked out
strategy to grill the government in 2012.
The members decided to
launch massive membership campaign. Patel delegated responsibility to increase
party domain to the general secretaries. The party claims to have five lakh
members at present in the state and expects to reach seven lakh in 2012.
At 2 pm, the meeting of
disciplinary committee was convened in which the members discussed whether to
take back the expelled leaders and workers who rebelled during previous
Assembly and general elections. The panel members has shortlisted a couple of
names whom unanimity was evolved to take them back. Later, they submitted the
list to Patel.
At 4 pm, the meeting of
monitoring committee was convened by chairman Arvind Netam. In the meeting, the
members chalked out programmes of the committee for 2012.
Also, the NSUI’s first
state executive meeting was organised at Congress Bhawan. Patel, who was
especially present on the occasion, gave significant tips to the newly elected
members to raise issues related to students.
The first meeting was
attended by party vice presidents - TS Singhdeo, Baijnath Chandrakar, Kawasi
Lakhma, general secretaries – Devvrat Singh, Arun Vora, Subhash Sharma,
Fulodevi Netam, Bhupesh Baghel, Dr Shiv Kumar Daharia, Ramesh Warlyani, Vidhan
Mishra, Dr Premsai Singh Tekam, executive members – Uday Mudliyar, Deepak Dubey
and PCC’s chief spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi. In the meetings of
disciplinary and monitoring committees, state unit head was present along with
the panel members.
