Union
Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Charandas Mahant has
written a letter to Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal to open National Institute
of Mining (NIM) in Chhattisgarh indicating that the state has huge potential in
mining sector.
Mahant has requested from
Sibal to put the proposal of NIM before National Development Council so that it
could be included in Planning Commission’s 12th five year plan.
In his letter, Mahant
informed Sibal that Chhattisgarh has huge mining resources and exports 28 types
of high quality minerals not only in the country, but also in the other parts
of the world.
The youth of the state
could not get opportunity in mining sector because they lack proper exposure, training
and guidance about it, he said.
Advocating opening of institutes
like NIM in the state he said such provisions would open new job avenues for
educated unemployed youth who usually migrate to other states for subsistence.
