Govt alarmed over Cong’s activities: Chhabda

The Congress on Monday jeered at Urban Administration Minister Rajesh Munat for his inspection of Raipur city and said the minister did it because the opposition had overtly started targeting the government for neglecting Congress-governed civic bodies and panchayats. “The ruling BJP has realised that its attitude could cause

it dear during elections. Hence, when the Congress announced to convene meeting of its elected public representatives of civic bodies and panchayats on February 3 to know the problems they are facing, the

government startled and decided to damage control exercise by showing superficial empathy to the public through spot inspections,” said PCC spokesperson Mahendra Chhabda.

“The PCC leadership has received complaints that the government not only adopts biased attitude while allocating funds to the Congress-led civic bodies and panchayats, but also threat the party’s elected

public representatives of removing them on fake charges,” said Chhabda.

He informed that the Congress would gather complaints from its elected public representatives on February 3 and then chalk out future strategy to take on ruling BJP.

He said it was unfortunate that Munat preferred visiting under-construction swimming pool worth Rs 12 crore instead of meeting with the residents of Dagaina whose houses were demolished by the RMC.

“The minister also seemed reluctant in meeting with the displaced Telebandha residents who are still waiting for proper rehabilitation at same place,” Chhabda said.

He alleged that the ruling party was protecting land mafias and builders. He said more than fifty ponds had been leveled under BJP’s regime while the existing ones had been handed over to the business houses for beautification works, although nothing had happened by far. 

Chhabda doubt that the minister’s inspection to Pandri bus stand would change its fate. “The bus stand has been in dejected condition for the past several years. This was Munat’s fourth inspection of the area.

Ironically, Chhattisgarh’s 90 percent transportation depends on road route but the condition of the bus stands are pathetic,” he said.
