Residents demand basic facilities for cemetery, stage dharna

Raipur, January 24, 2012

The residents of Shankar Nagar ward led by Youth Congress leader Akash Tiwari staged a day-long dharna on Tuesday and demanded provision of basic facilities for cemetery in the area.
“The area of Shankar Nagar cemetery is more than the any other cemeteries in the city but unfortunately it is ill-facilitated and surrounded by garbage,” Tiwari said.
He held the BJP responsible for dejected condition of Shankar Nagar cemetery as the party candidates had been winning ward elections for the past 20 years. “The current BJP corporator, instead of improving the condition of the cemetery, is more interested in encroached lands as the land rate of the ward is high,” Tiwari alleged.
In dharna, Tiwari was accompanied by the residents Pranav Shukla Yash Gujar, Yatendra Tomar, Ashish Goswami, Saket Vaidya, Vinay Tiwari, Navjot Singh, Nilesh Soni, Shreyash Mishra, Sattu Singh, Kishore Manik, Anurag Sahu, Vinod Pandey, etc.
