PCC president Nandkumar
Patel on Thursday meet villagers who were lathicharged during public hearing of
Lanco Amarkantak Power Limited at village Pathadi located at Korba-Champa
highway. He will be accompanied by a team of Congress leaders including local
MLAs and party’s state and district office-bearers. Union Minister of State for
Agriculture and Food Processing Charandas Mahant will join the team at village Pathadi.
The team will interact with the people of five villages affected by Lanco
project.
The Congress has
decided to raise Lanco public hearing issue prominently in coming days. According
to information, the affected villagers are severely upset with the Lanco
management and local administration.
Hence, a high-profile
team including Patel and Mahant will first take stock of the situation from the
villagers and then chalk out future strategy to grill the government on the
issue. The party is also planning to stage massive dharna and protest movement
against the government at Lanco project spot.
