Cong presents details of graft cases found by monitoring panel


Claims corruption of Rs 14918.29 lakh was unearthed in just 101 works

The Congress has presented details of graft cases obtained by its monitoring committee which toured in seven districts of the state in last three months.
The PCC president Nandkumar Patel informed that the panel headed by Arvind Netam had found corruption of Rs 14918.29 lakh in just 101 works carried under Centrally-sponsored schemes in four different districts. “The revelation is simply a tip of the iceberg and we are hopeful to find more evidences of graft cases in the Central schemes,” said Patel alleging that the government had misused over Rs 87000 crore meant for Centre’s 16 flagship programmes.
The Congress monitoring panel has by far toured seven districts – Sarguja, Surajpur, Balrampur (all from October 17-19), Koria (November 21), Jashpur (November 22), Kawardha (November 29) and Mahasamund (December 13).
The panel toured Sarguja when Surajpur and Balrampur districts were part of it. The panel members toured 20 blocks and one urban area of Sarguja and obtained evidences of corruption in 24 works worth Rs 6585.72 lakh.
Similarly, during its tour to six blocks and two urban areas of Koria district, the panel found irregularities worth Rs 7109.79 lakh from 33 works.
In Jashpur, the panel visited eight blocks and one urban area and discovered corruption amounting Rs 268.89 lakh in 13 works. In Kawardha, it disclosed graft cases worth Rs 953.89 lakh from 31 works in four blocks and one urban area.
