FLIP SIDE

Good governance, bad behaviour
One of the state ministers has become thorn in the eyes of BJP party workers because of his rude behaviour. Recently, he displayed his skills again during the conference of Agriculture and Food & Civil Supplies Ministers of BJP-ruled states that held in the capital. During the conference, this minister contemptuously directed the party workers to vacate the seats near the dias reasoning that they were reserved for the ministers arrived from other states. Peeved by his rash behaviour, the party workers sitting in the back whispered – “The minister’s days are numbered. His arrogance would cost him dear in next Assembly elections. Now, even the voters have realised that they were giving mandate to the wrong person.” Will the BJP include behavioural factor in its concept of good governance?

Accounts stall in Rajyotsav
The preparations of Rajyotsav 2010 in Science College mela ground are on final footing. Everyday, several serious-faced officials inspect the preparatory works, but some of them sneak little time to relax. During one such recess in the mela ground, a group of the officials were sipping tea and criticising the state government. One official asked – “What will happen if the government would decide to put an ‘accounts stall’ this year to display information about the expenditure records of all the departments?” The second official quipped – “All of us would be suspended.” The third official chuckled – “…and the ruling party will fall flat in the next elections.”

Senior leaders and snake bite
After some anti-social elements (or Congress workers?) hurled ink on state Congress incharge V Narayanasamy and party worker Pappu Farishta’s name surfaced as mastermind behind the incident, some of the workers have decided to maintain a safe distance from their senior leaders. One Congress worker said – “We cannot trust our senior leaders. You never know when they will get angry with you and then they will make you scapegoat when their names would be dragged in any controversial issue.”

Kissa corruption ka
People still get surprised when they learn that a government official or any businessman owns several crores of disproportionate property. Their eyes dilated again when they read the report about the ACB raid on RMC’s Executive Engineer’s disproportionate assets that worth about Rs 4 crore. But the municipal employees ask – “If this is an eye opener for the people then how will they react when the vast properties of those RMC officials would be unearthed who had taken transfer to other municipal corporations to avoid raids.” They said ‘kissa corruption ka’ (the tale of corruptions) would never end in the RMC.
