Corruption & terror links
The BJP and Congress have locked horns again. This time, it happened because of Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s remarks on RSS when she alleged that the Sangh pariwar has links with terrorists during the recent AICC meeting. The state BJP is brooding to raise this issue during the upcoming Sanjari-Balod legislative Assembly by-election if the Congress would throw its heavyweights including Sonia and Rahul Gandhi in hustings. The BJP workers say that the prudent voters would not lend their ear to any of the baseless statements of the Congress supremo who rarely speak on the significant issues like corruption and terrorism (including naxalism). They further say that Sonia is herself digging the grave for her party’s Chhattisgarh unit that is in shambles.
United Congress
The Congress workers are united again. At least, this surprising change can be seen at Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) where some of the party corporators who had grudge against Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak are grinning again and showering encomiums on her. Nayak had overlooked the candidature of these disgruntled corporators in the recently held zone president elections and Mayor-in-Council (MiC) reshuffle. But now, she has given them significant responsibilities. This happened after the party’s state leadership asked Nayak and her team stay away from controversies and resolve all their grievances against each other amicable. The District Congress Committee (DCC) has also been warned to avoid poking its nose into the RMC’s petty issues. The BJP corporators, who had befriended with the dissenting Congress corporators, are upset with the changed scenario as they feel that the fragmented ruling party renders them better opportunity to attack on various civic issues.
Price rise, Diwali & emotional quotient
This year, people celebrated a special Diwali as they had to shell out loads of extra money to bring smile on the face of their family members. Thanks to the country’s economic policy that caused rise in the prices of essential commodities. From sweets to gold, electronics to furniture and garments to automobile, people broke all records of shopping in spite of whopping prices because their emotional quotient suddenly when high and they could not help extending their domain beyond capacity. Even the people who earn minimal that is only sufficient for their subsistence bought happiness from the market after borrowing wherewithal from the moneylenders. But why should Union or state governments worry about inflation? For them, price rise is the sign of growth and they want it to achieve even by denting common man’s pocket. Fortunately, Diwali comes once in a year.
