CM: PWD develops government’s image

Raipur, November 01, 2010

The network of roads reflects every state’s development. For visitors, the particular state government is solely responsible for excellent or abject condition of the roads.  Therefore, PWD plays vital role in developing the any state government’s image. Chief Minister Raman Singh uttered these words after releasing PWD’s website in presence of department’s minister Brijmohan Agrawal at New Circuit House on Monday morning.
“Three years back, the government had released a website for updated record of paddy procurement and ration distribution under public distribution system (PDS) to maintain transparency. This is now being adopted by the Centre and the other states as model.  Similarly, we must attempt to develop the PWD’s website as model for the nation,” Singh said.
“The PWD’s website has not only been released to maintain transparency, but it would also be convenient for those who wish to seek information about the department, especially contractors who have to fetch significant details about tenders process and relevant stuffs,” he said.
“The state is identified in the nation on the basis of the credibility it had achieved and Chhattisgarh has succeeded in emerging as the most promising and trustworthy state in past ten years,” Singh said
Appreciating the projects being carried out by the department in the past one decade, especially in the naxal-hit areas, Singh hoped that the pace of its works would be increased with the release of its official website – www.cg.nic.in/pwdraipur.
The PWD Minister Agrawal said – “The department carrying out construction works always remain under the scanner of the common people. Hence, the PWD aims to maintain transparency and develop an ideal image of the government.”
He informed that the official website would contain departmental budget, accounts and expenditure related figures on daily basis, allocation of works, etc.
