RSS gets nod for Dussehra prog in Sapre School ground

Raipur, October 16, 2010

The Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) has finally obtained permission from the RMC to organise Dussehra programme at Madhav Rao Sapre School ground on Sunday. The municipal Commissioner Om Prakash Choudhary on Saturday confirmed that permission has been granted to the RSS as the applicants had sought to organise their programme on Sunday which is holiday for school and college students.
Earlier, one of the senior members of the Sangh Jauhari Lal Sharma met Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak on Saturday and gave her an application urging to provide the ground. Nayak forwarded the letter to Choudhary saying that the final decision would be taken by the municipal administration. After considering all the aspects, Choudhary allowed the sangh to organise its programme in the school ground.
Notably, Nayak had refused to give the ground to RSS on Friday saying that neither it had sought permission from the municipal corporation pertaining to their programme nor there is any provision to give sports grounds for purposes other than sports activities. She had also quoted Supreme Court order that the sports grounds should be given only for sporting events and not for other programmes.
