FLIP SIDE

Impact of municipal’s warning

After the RMC warned the sanitary contractors to ensure garbage from the city be dumped in the Sarona-based trenching ground, Raipurians were expecting that the city would soon wear a clean look. Unfortunately, it did not happen. Now, the civic authorities are grimacing and clarifying that they would soon tighten noose on the sanitary contractors. But they don’t reply how and when? At present, these contractors are getting their full payment in spite of accomplishing half or no task and burning the garbage in the residential areas and at roadsides at night by overtly flouting municipal’s instructions. Well, this is the right impact of municipal’s warning on the sanitary contractors. Isn’t it?

Why Congress desperately wants PCC prez

The state Congress desperately wants new PCC president, but to the frustration of the leaders and workers, the party supremo Sonia Gandhi is taking her own time before announcing the name. The party workers are fed-up with too many names surfacing and vanishing for the coveted post of the PCC president since Congress lost two back to back elections in 2008 (Vidhan Sabha polls) and in 2009 (Lok Sabha polls). Some of the senior leaders say that whether Sonia would announce new name for president post or repeat the incumbent Dhanendra Sahu, the party no more revolves around the hot seat due to increased factions. They want Sonia to take stern action against those leaders who are catalysing the trend of polarisation in the party. They said the Congress would only be strong again when the new PCC president would get support from all the factions and complete liberty from the national leadership. They also want new state incharge terming the existing one preoccupied with his ministerial obligations.

Tribals are ignored by all parties

The BJP ST Morcha in its recent the three-day meeting and training programme in the state capital said that the Centre was ignoring the tribals  of the country and are not implementing the policies meant for them effectively. But the tribals who are government servants as well as those who arrive capital from the remote areas for higher education and better life, say that they do not believe on the assurances and promises of any political party because except few of their community, the remaining are still in the same abject condition. They say that schemes are made in the air conditioned rooms and implemented in the distant jungles where they dwell and the political parties in power require a strong grit and gumption to bridge this gap. They also feel that merely by raising voices against other parties on the name of tribals would not produce any anticipated result, but the governments must attempt to bring changes from ground level. The tribals say reservation is not enough to uplift them but the governments must provide a platform to their community to enhance their competence right from primary school to professional degree levels.

Cong demands ban on RSS in state

Submits memorandum to Governor

Raipur, November 13, 2010

The state Congress on Saturday demanded from the Governor to ban Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) in the state terming it communal and separatist organisation and threat to Chhattisgarh’s peace and tranquility pointing towards the nation-wide protests against the former Sangh chief KS Sudarshan for his controversial remarks against UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. In this connection, the Congress leaders including PCC president Dhanendra Sahu, Leader of Opposition in state Assembly Ravindra Choubey, PCC working president Satyanaraya Sharma, PCC incharge general secretary Subhash Sharma and others met Governor at 11:30 am on Saturday and submitted him a memorandum.
The nation is aware about Sonia Gandhi’s sacrifice as she had refused Prime Minister’s post twice. She is serving the country dedicatedly after the assassinations of her husband and former Prime Minister Rajeev Gandhi and her mother-in-law and former PM Indira Gandhi. Still, people like Sudarshan are trying to sully her image through objectionable statements,” they said.
The Congress demanded that the state government should file criminal case against Sudarshan for giving such a defamatory statement against Sonia Gandhi.
The Congress leaders also expressed their concerns over the increasing interference of RSS in the government works. They said the BJP-led state government had appointed at least one RSS member in each of its ministries. They said the communal and separatist ideologies of RSS would disturb the harmony of the state.
The Congress leaders further alleged that the government misused its powers and directed the police administration to create obstacle in their peaceful march on November 12, 2010 when they were proceeding to Raj Bhawan to submit memorandum to the Governor. They demanded that the charges against all the Congress workers detained during the peace march should be lifted.
